Samsung loses smartphone crown to Apple in 2023
Despite heightened regulatory scrutiny and growing rivalry from Huawei in its largest market, China, Apple overtook Samsung in 2023 to take the top spot in the worldwide smartphone market, reveals a few market research organizations. Apple increased its market share from 18.8% in 2022 to 20.1% in 2023, as per the International Data Corporation (IDC). This is all because of the shipments, which increased by 3.7% year over year. Research company Canalys claimed separately that “Apple pipped Samsung to become the year’s top vendor in terms of shipments for the first time,” putting the iPhone manufacturer’s and Samsung’s share at over 20%.
Samsung’s position falls in the chart:
Samsung secured 53.0 shipments with 16.3% market share in the fourth quarter of 2023.
