Galaxy S24 Goes Local with Baidu AI in China
Samsung debuted its very first AI smartphone, the Galaxy S24, which has arrived with the Galaxy AI. But the brand has packed the device with a few specific features as per the particular regions; for instance, Baidu’s Ernie AI chatbot in China.
Ernie is a strong competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT AI chatbot; it has the ability to generate responses the same as humans to any question. OpenAI launched Ernie back in October 2023, and its latest version is Ernie 4.0.
If the reports are to be believed, Baidu stated that Ernie 4.0 is one of the strongest foundational models and has the power of understanding, reasoning, memory, and generation. Apart from this, the Chinese firm has assured that Ernie 4.0 is powerful as well as capable, similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT based on GPT-4.
Chinese firms also claim that Samsung’s Note Assist feature is getting power from Ernie 4.0, and it has the ability to translate content, summarize lengthy content into short text, and format content intelligently. The reports are also indicating that the rest of the other AI-powered features on the Galaxy S24 will also be powered by Ernie in the Chinese market.
Although, by the end of December 2023, Ernie had over 100 million users, in just four months after the launch, which was in October 2023, it reached these numbers. It competes with Alibaba’s Tongyi Qianwen and Tencent’s Hunyuan in the China region in the generative artificial intelligence (AI) segment. Samsung has a minuscule market share in China as well; its market share is less than 1%, according to the latest numbers.
