Apple is gearing up to debut its next-generation iPad Pro; unfortunately, getting an unexpected delay may be Samsung‘s reason behind this.

It has already been reported that Apple will go with the OLED panels of Samsung for its forthcoming iPad Pro series, whereas the iPads were supposed to debut this month, but unfortunately, that did not happen. The exact reason behind this is not known yet, but it is rumored that Samsung could be the reason behind the delay.

The recent report from Hankooki reported that Samsung Display recently faced low efficiency for its new 11-inch OLED panels, and it has been unable to meet Apple’s order quantity. This is why Apple transferred orders for some OLED panels from Samsung Display to LG Display.

It is now expected that LG Display will increase its production capacity by hundreds of thousands in the upcoming month. LG Display could make 60% of all OLED orders for the next-generation iPad Pro lineup. Earlier, Apple initially divided OLED orders between the firms Samsung Display and LG Display.

LG was meant to deliver 13-inch panels, whereas Samsung has 11-inch panels. These are newer OLED panels with two light-emitting layers, delivering much longer life and higher brightness.

For more information, LG has already invested millions of dollars to set up a sixth-generation OLED panel manufacturing line and received quality control certification from Apple. It appears that now it can pick up some slack from its competitor, Samsung Display. It is reported that Apple has placed about 8.5 million OLED panel orders for its upcoming iPad Pro models. This is a decrease from the previously reported 10 million figure.

It is expected that the next-generation iPad Pros will be costlier as compared to the predecessor generation, and they could also feature the M3 chipset from Apple. The expectations are that forthcoming iPad Pros are now expected to launch sometime in May 2024.
