Google revamped its Google Weather app to make it more user-friendly and enhance the experience by bringing with it Material You design standards.

Google’s Weather app has received a major renovation with Material You aesthetics and additional information. After being available on Pixel devices since September 2023 and Samsung Galaxy devices since December, Google finally decided to push it out to most Android devices in May 2024.

It is being reported that the new Google Weather app is appearing on many more manufacturers’ Android devices, except Pixels and Samsungs. The app has been spotted on various devices, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, the OnePlus Open, the Honor Magic 6 RSR, and even an older Nokia 4.2 running Android 11.

For so long, its availability was limited to specific devices; now, finally, Google has started rolling it out widely. Users who have access to the new Weather app will also have noticed a recent update for the Google app. The new app introduces a simpler layout with hourly and 10-day forecasts on a single page, replacing the multiple tabs of the old application. Earlier this year, in February, Google updated its At a Glance and Weather widget icons on Pixel smartphones.

The Weather app is not the only application that Google has brought weather data to. Previously, it was reported that the company was finally bringing real-time weather information within Google Maps; however, that has been available for years on iOS. The Google Weather app’s redesign is highly pleasing to the eyes, and the Material You Impact is quite notably on display.
