Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 to Miss Out on Wi-Fi 7 Compatibility

Samsung’s sixth-generation foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, are close to taking the floor at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July. Maybe the Galaxy Z Flip 6 won’t support Wi-Fi 7.

Despite leading the foldable market, Samsung’s Galaxy foldable devices still lack a few features, and it’s the same case with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6. The report says the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 reveals that the phone will lack support for Wi-Fi 7. The recently launched Galaxy S24 Ultra is the first and only Galaxy smartphone that supports Wi-Fi 7 facilities.

Since the brand has already introduced Wi-Fi 7 on the existing Galaxy S24 Ultra, it was expected that the upcoming foldable device would also bring the same Wi-Fi support, but unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore. This is being speculated by the FCC certification, which hinted that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will lack support for Wi-Fi 7. However, the device potentially has Wi-Fi disabled at a firmware or software level, as we have already seen on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+.

All Galaxy S24 variants arrived with the essential hardware on the Snapdragon variants, but since the Exynos chip that powers them in most countries tops out at Wi-Fi 6E, Samsung chose to artificially restrict Wi-Fi 7 on all the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ units regardless of the chip inside. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 might have lower specs as compared to other Galaxy flagships, whereas the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to support future Wi-Fi 7 for better futureproofing.
