Google is actively setting up to release Android 15 stably, running in the beta phase, and introducing a new “Instant Hotspot”. Samsung Galaxy smartphones are close to getting the latest OS update – Android 15 (One UI 7) but the new “Instant Hotspot” feature will not be compatible with Samsung phones.

Sadly, despite leading the smartphone market, Samsung phones will not be able to set as a passwordless hotspot to quickly share data connection with any Android or Chromebook using this option. However, there are still alternative options for these cases. Recently, Google announced the latest Android feature drop update, which brings new features to all Android devices.

The notable feature of “Instant Hotspot” is that it is not compatible with Samsung phones, as its name suggests. Instant Hotspot permits you to set your Android device to instantly share the data connection with your other devices without even entering a password. A similar feature has existed in Chrome OS for a while now under the name “Instant Tethering.” The Instant Hotspot also supports tablets, which is quite convenient for Wi-Fi-only models when you need to connect them to the Internet and there is no Wi-Fi available.

This Instant Hotspot feature will arrive via a Google Play Services update. It will be compatible with devices running Android 11 and higher.

To make things clear, Google itself has confirmed in the blog section that the latest Instant Hotspot feature will not work on Samsung devices, as spotted by Android Authority. The purpose behind this lack of support from the South Korean giant is unknown. However, the giant already has in-house alternative options.

Samsung’s Android skin One UI includes the “Auto Hotspot” feature that plays a similar role to Instant Hotspot. However, it is only compatible with devices in the Galaxy ecosystem. One of the reasons for not adopting the Instant Hotspot feature is that the Korean giant promotes its own Auto Hotspot instead. The Galaxy devices can still share data with Chromebook and Windows PCs using separate methods.
