While Samsung fans are eagerly waiting for the One UI 7 version to come, the company has just released the details of the latest maintenance release for its major flagship Galaxy models as part of the Security Maintenance Release (SMR) process. This newer release package significantly includes security patches from Google and Samsung.
Samsung September 2024 Security Patch
Google patches include patches up to Android Security Bulletin for the September 2024 package. This September 2024 security bulletin significantly contains plenty of security-related CVEs, including one critical, 43 high-level CVEs, one CVE that’s already included in the previous update, and one CVE that is not applicable to Samsung devices.
Accompanied by Google patches, Samsung Mobile offers 23 Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items, which most prominently aim to improve the security of the Galaxy devices while also providing a more safe and secure environment to the users. This eventually includes SVEs alongside CVEs from both Google and Samsung.
The SVEs include improper authorization in My Files, One UI Home, the ThemeCenter application, Dex Mode in the multitasking framework, and several other relevant improvements for the Galaxy ecosystem.
Alongside the latest Samsung September 2024 Android security bulletin, the company has also ended the software support of a few Galaxy models, including the Galaxy Tab S7 series, Galaxy M31, and Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
