Telegram to Begin Moderating Private Chats for the First Time

Telegram, one of the most popular messaging apps, has always offered some of the best yet attractive features to its users. However, in the recent past, it’s in the news that the amount of spread of criminal activities has increased rapidly on the app, which eventually led to the arrest and investigation of Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of Telegram.
French authorities have arrested Pavel Durov, citing an investigation that is significantly centered on the alleged scarcity of moderators on Telegram, which is leading to the rapid increase in criminal activities on this popular messaging app, while most prominently no actions took place to control this phenomenon.
Telegram Set to Implement Moderation for Private Chats
Meanwhile, Durov shared his first message just after his arrest, stating that he will personally ensure improving the situation, while they have already started working on improving the criminal offenses internally.
It’s important to highlight that this statement came after the removal of a specific section of the FAQ page that mentioned that the private chats were protected from moderation requests. This in turn further signifies that users can even report any illegal content to the moderators on the app.
In addition, after the arrest incident, Pavel Durov seems to be determined to possibly change the policies of Telegram that are followed by this messaging service up until now. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see whether Telegram will be changing completely or the abusive and criminal activities will be controlled.
