One UI 6.5 Watch and Wear OS 5.1 to Introduce New Key Features for Galaxy Watches
Samsung is still busy rolling out its One UI 6 Watch to its eligible Galaxy watches; meanwhile, Google has already released the first preview version of the Wear OS 5.1 update with new features. This suggests that Samsung could adopt the new features by releasing the next One UI 6.5 Watch update to Galaxy Watches.
Samsung to bring two new features to Galaxy Watches with One UI 6.5 Watch-based on Wear OS 5.1
Google released the Wear OS 5.1 update, which is based on Android 15 (API Level 35), along with two notable features that are mentioned below:
- Credential Manager
- Watch speaker playback
Initially, the Credentials Manager feature was introduced with the Android 14 update for Android smartphones; now, finally, it is coming to smartwatches. This feature will be significant in making signing into applications and services easier and smoother by offering a unified sign-in method across devices. Apart from this, it will also help you to store your PIN passwords and federated identity and sync them across all your Android-based devices.
The Watch speaker playback feature offers the ability to playback media through a smartwatch’s loudspeaker, which is currently not possible since Android doesn’t allow playback of music tracks directly from the watch’s speaker. Now finally with the latest OS 5.1 update, Galaxy users can easily stream music directly from their wrist via the Galaxy Watch’s loudspeaker.
According to a report from Mishaal Rahman, currently, the Wear OS 5.1 Preview is available for developers, and once they test their smartwatch applications that target API Level 35, soon the update will be released publicly.
