Samsung might think to design foldable displays for portable gaming consoles
In this fast-paced generation, gaming has become more advanced and has significantly bridged the gap between PC gaming and gaming consoles. With convenience as the topmost priority, Samsung seems to be entering a new era of the portable gaming console market as a new patent surfaced in November 2024.
According to the reports presented by WIPO (via Sammobile), a new patent has surfaced that suggests that Samsung might be planning to design foldable displays for the portable gaming consoles.
While Samsung is the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer and the topmost company in the foldable market, the latest patent features a portable foldable design with sunken D-shaped pads that allows the gaming console display to get folded seamlessly. This formula could make Samsung superior in creating a portable gaming console that features a foldable display from the rest of the companies in the market.
Alternatively, Samsung has to, of course, face the biggest challenge: what type of games will the new foldable portable gaming console run?
Moreover, with the immersive yet innovative gaming experience, Samsung has continuously offered next-level functionality in the gaming sector, introducing more impressive games via the Gaming Hub platform. While the Samsung mobile cloud gaming is already official, the plan to design a foldable portable gaming console is definitely not a bad idea.
However, it will be interesting to see whether Samsung would implement this idea or simply ditch it anyway.
