Samsung Could Let Users Launch Gemini with Side Button

Samsung now seems to be ready to bring its greatly anticipated One UI 7 version to the podium; however, till now the company has not officially revealed the exact timeframe. Among various assertions regarding One UI 7, another new report suggests that Samsung could bring the feature to launch Gemini via the Galaxy phone’s side button.

As per the information shared by Android Authority, the majority of Android smartphones allow users to launch their Google Assistant by pressing and holding the power button; however, this is not the case with Samsung, as there is no such facility. Meanwhile, this could get changed since Samsung seems to be working on the feature.

Basically, Samsung only allows users to launch Bixby (its dedicated smart assistant) even if the user has not set it as a default service. Now, probably with the upcoming One UI 7 version, the company may soon allow Galaxy users to launch Gemini rather than Bixby by long-pressing the side or power button. This is revealed via a new string that suggests, “Hold down the Side button to talk to Gemini.”.

Alternatively, it’s important to highlight that there’s no official or exact information about whether Samsung might change this setting on its Galaxy devices in the future, but you never know; the upcoming Android 15-based One UI 7 version might have hidden the functionality behind the curtains.

For now, Galaxy fans are eagerly waiting for the One UI 7 beta to land, and at the same time, as the expectations are growing higher and with hypes already created, the next One UI version will be full of surprises for the entire Galaxy audience.
