Samsung is setting up to introduce its Galaxy XR powered by Android XR next year; currently, it is codenamed ‘Project Moohan.”

Google and Samsung have announced a collaboration to enter the mixed-reality market with a new OS and headset, aiming to stand strong against rival brands Apple and Meta. The Korean tech giant has officially unveiled the first look at the Galaxy XR; meanwhile, Google also debuted the Android XR operating system to power Samsung’s upcoming XR devices, for instance, headsets, smart glasses, and more.

Samsung’s upcoming XR headset will be based on Android XR and includes virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), as well as other similar technologies yet to be developed. The company states that it is working with Qualcomm and Google to develop XR technology and enhance user experiences.

Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg reporter, has already accessed the Samsung XR headset and Android XR platform. Both brands, Google and Samsung, are focused on finding a balance between premium features and affordable pricing, and it seems that the key to success lies in pricing, while Samsung is conscious of the high-cost barrier in the XR market. On the other side, Apple’s Vision Pro has a starting price of $3,499.

It stated, “We’re doing a lot of research on what price point customers will feel comfortable paying,” while Samsung added that the company is “fully aware.” For now, the price has yet to be finalized, but it seems that the price will be affordable.
