WhatsApp Ends Support for Older Samsung Galaxy Phones Starting January 2025

Although the majority of Android smartphone users prefer WhatsApp as their go-to instant messaging platform for sending or receiving media, files and other relevant documents on the go, the company has announced that it’s ending support for a few Android units, including Samsung.
Beginning from 1st January, 2025, WhatsApp will no longer be supported on several Samsung Galaxy devices that are currently running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) version.
Since applications installed on smartphones don’t have unlimited support, it automatically stops working when the app reaches its support deadline. The same goes for WhatsApp as well. Among other Android models, there are certain Galaxy models that will no longer be able to use WhatsApp after 1st January, 2025. These include:
- Samsung Galaxy S3
- Samsung Galaxy Note II
- Samsung Galaxy Ace 3
- Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
Therefore, from next year (early next month), users will require Android 5.0 or higher versions, at least to use WhatsApp on their devices, while there’s no other option to divert this end of support of the application. Alternatively, to recall, as of now, WhatsApp has offered plenty of new features and enhancements that aim to offer a smooth and optimized user experience.
Currently, Samsung is working on expanding the December security patch to more Galaxy devices in different parts of the world on one hand, while the Galaxy S24 series owners are excitingly enjoying the One UI 7 versions, with two beta builds already delivered in selected countries.
