While Samsung is eyeing another lineup in its foldable family, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, along with an SE model (probably), new reports claim that the company’s upcoming foldables are expected to boost an all-new Lite version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which has just launched.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 Could Run on a Slightly Reduced Snapdragon 8 Elite

Qualcomm recently introduced a slightly reduced version of its standard Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset that can be recognized with the SM8750-3-AB model number. It’s rumored to be used specifically for foldables and ultra-slim smartphones, and thus, Samsung’s upcoming book-style smartphones could hold this chipset.

Basically, due to the absence of one main high-performance core, it’s a slightly reduced version of Qualcomm’s power-efficient Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which is cost-effective and generates less heat as well. This latest chipset is significantly manufactured on a 3nm-based TSMC N3E process technology with a 7-core CPU and 5 high-performance cores.

Being a lite version, it’s best suited for the Galaxy Z foldables: Fold 7 and Flip 7, and even for Samsung’s ultra-slim smartphones like the Galaxy S25 Slim. However, previous reports have already claimed that the Galaxy S25 Slim, launching somewhere in May, could feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Alternatively, there were also a few assumptions that suggest that the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 will exclusively be powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2500.

Moreover, Samsung’s dominance in the foldable market saw a serious decline in its leading position in the smartphone industry, despite the entry of more upgraded models that couldn’t change much. Therefore, with next-generation foldables, it’s expected that Samsung’s foldable market could witness a significant boost.
