Smartphones allow users to stay connected with their friends and family, making it available for them to access everything right at their fingertips. It can also invite identity theft, financial fraud, and other potential risks when reached in the wrong hands. Thus, Google is here with its versatile and comprehensive feature: Identity Check, rolling out for Samsung Galaxy devices.

Well, a stolen phone can easily get into the wrong hands and is more prone to various potential threats like identity theft and financial fraud and can expose sensitive data at the same time, which can be dangerous. Google has got this topic covered!

In order to ensure users and their data protection and to safeguard the Android ecosystem at every stage if the device gets stolen, Google has started rolling out now a new comprehensive feature, the Identity Check, first on the Samsung Galaxy (eligible) devices supporting One UI 7 that will significantly offer better protection for the user’s sensitive accounts and the device’s settings.  However, this feature is not only exclusive to the Galaxy phones, as Pixels are also receiving the same feature.

Identity Check will increase the security of Galaxy smartphones with One UI 7

According to Google, the latest Identity Check feature, when enabled, protects a user’s sensitive account and device’s settings, but users will be required to designate certain trusted locations. Once you are outside these places, biometric authentication will be required in order to access critical accounts and device settings such as changing your device PIN or biometrics, disabling theft protection, and accessing Passkeys.

Alternatively, the Identity Check feature also turns on more enhanced protection for Google Accounts on all supported devices and adds an additional layer of security for Samsung Accounts on One UI 7 eligible Galaxy devices that certainly makes it more difficult for an unauthorized person to take over a sensitive account’s sign-in information on the device.

Lastly, the Identity Check feature will be available for Samsung Galaxy devices eligible for One UI 7 over the coming weeks, while it’s already available for the Pixels with Android 15. Also, it will get expanded to the other Android partners later this year.
