Samsung to extend Galaxy S23’s Astrophotography feature to other Galaxy smartphones

Published

on

Samsung has outstanding cameras and superior photography skills in its high-end Galaxy S lineup. For example, the newly-launched Galaxy S23 Ultra contains a 200-MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor, and the previous S22 Ultra features a 108-MP ISOCELL HM3 sensor in it. Along with incredible cameras, the firm owns various photography-related features too, one of which is Astrophotography.

For those who are unaware, the Astrophotography feature lets you click wonderful images of the stars, constellations, and other nighttime activities. This feature has been introduced as an Expert RAW feature, which is Samsung’s advanced camera application. The feature has made its way to the Galaxy S22 series first, and the new Galaxy S23 series has brought an option to take Astro hyper-lapses.

Now it seems that Samsung is planning to make this feature available for the other Galaxy devices. As per the tipster GaryeonHan, Samsung will bring Expert RAW’s Astrophotography feature along with the Multi-exposure feature to almost all flagships of and later the year 2020. The device names are listed below.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Galaxy Z Fold 2
  • Galaxy S21 Ultra
  • Galaxy S20 Ultra
  • Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

Informatively, these devices will get Expert RAW’s Astrophotography feature only, and it looks that Galaxy S23’s Astro hyper-lapse feature will be out of this. Unfortunately, it seems that this novelty will be out of reach of pre-Galaxy S23 flagships. However, it is still unknown when this update will reach the other Galaxy devices.

Samsung Electronics and O2 Telefónica today announced that the brands have debuted their very first virtualized RAN (vRAN) and Open RAN commercial sites in Germany.

It is the first time that Samsung’s 5G vRAN solution is being used in Germany, which is using vRAN and Open RAN technology and is live in Landsberg am Lech, Germany, offering 4G and 5G services. At the moment, the facility is limited, but the network will be expanded to seven more sites in the area soon. Undoubtedly, this is an efficient development for open-RAN technology.

The Executive Vice President, Head of Global Sales & Marketing, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics, Junehee Lee, stated, “Samsung is setting new standards for excellence in the telecommunications industry with our innovative vRAN and open RAN capabilities. Celebrating Telefónica’s 100th anniversary, we are proud to be the key partner for O2 Telefónica on their trailblazing journey to usher in a new era of connectivity in Germany.”

O2 Telefónica is building an even more significant and futureproof network, leveraging modern and advanced technologies, open interfaces, and automation capabilities. Open RAN authorizes greater flexibility in the mobile network. Based on open interfaces, operators can merge network components from different providers and integrate them into their network.

Samsung is providing its market-leading 4G and 5G vRAN 3.0 solution and O-
RAN-compliant radios supporting low- and mid-bands (700MHz, 800MHz, 1.8GHz, 2.1GHz, 2.6GHz, and 3.6GHz), which include 64T6R Massive MIMO radios. After this, the brand will launch intelligent network automation solutions for Samsung just to control life cycle management, from deployment and operation to maintenance. This O-RAN-compliant automation solution offers the power to accelerate innovative software-based network rollouts by authorizing the automated deployment of many network sites together.

Samsung Patent Hints at Rethinking Smart Glasses like Apple Vision Pro

Samsung is a tough competitor for Apple, and now to fire up the battle, the latest patent filing is unveiling that Samsung is gearing up to introduce a new VR headset with more advanced features as compared to Apple’s Vision Pro.

The reports are reporting that the Korean giant has filed for a new patent for a VR headset. This is being speculated since patent documentation has been spotted, which is suggesting that Samsung’s VR headset could be better than Apple’s Vision Pro.

It is expected that the forthcoming VR headset will arrive with infrared sensors for augmented reality and offer similar features as Apple’s Vision Pro. The patent has been filed at the Korean Intellectual Property Office with the description “Communication methods and apparatus utilizing avatars in virtual space.”

According to the document, it appears that the headset can showcase virtual avatars to the user by using multiple sensors to collect information from their surroundings. However, here is a noticeable fact: the patent does not mention the word headset anywhere. In place of that, it hints at any gadget that can be worn by the user.

The reports are saying that the headset will work smoothly with Samsung wireless headphones and smartwatches. It can probably gather health data, such as heart rate and calories burned, from connected devices to create a virtual avatar for fitness activities. The brand could also attach various sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and even infrared sensors. These would track your movements and locations exactly.

The documents also mention the possibility of an integrated navigation system, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth support. The device could also have its own processor, GPU, and NPU to manage this data. The giant could also attach a rechargeable battery, although at the moment, the exact position of the battery placement in the device is not mentioned.

However, the brand has yet to officially announce the development of a forthcoming VR headset.
