Samsung Galaxy Phones Support Satellite Messaging in the USA

Samsung Galaxy phones now have access to Starlink’s satellite emergency messaging that allows them to send and receive messages via a satellite connection where there is no cellular reception nearby.

Previously it was reported that the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 users on the T-Mobile network have spotted the satellite messaging feature in the USA.

Now a new report suggests that T-Mobile has finally switched on Starlink’s satellite emergency messaging on a few Galaxy smartphones, and selected Galaxy S24 series users now have access to the feature. This new feature will let you send and receive messages directly through a satellite connection without even any cellular reception nearby.

However, it’s unclear whether satellite messaging also supports sending images, videos, documents, and other files or only text messages. For this feature, some users applied to beta to experience how it is working, whereas some people have received access to test it. T-Mobile doesn’t seem to have sent an email, notification, or text message about its availability yet.

Noticeably, for now, the feature is only available on selected flagship Galaxy devices running on at least One UI 6.1 software version. However, the users who are running the One UI 7 beta also haven’t had access to satellite messaging. The satellite messaging is only available on some T-Mobile plans, and it is expected that the company will expand the availability of the feature in the coming months.
