Updates for Galaxy A72 and Galaxy S20 Series: June Security Patch Firmware In Europe

Recently, Samsung’s Galaxy S20 series, 5G and LTE variants, and Galaxy A72 have received the June security patch. Only Galaxy S20 FE has not received the update; for now, it’s a matter of time before other parts will soon receive this patch.

Samsung has been a little slow regarding updates this month but is now covering up. This month’s update fixes the security and privacy-related issues and comes with a Google security patch and UI tweaking.

Galaxy S20 trio has received this update in Switzerland EU. Following are the Galaxy S20 series variants and can be identified with their June firmware update version, respectively-

LTE-

  • Galaxy S20: G981FXXSEFVE6
  • Galaxy S20+: G986FXXSEFVE6
  • Galaxy S20 Ultra: G988FXXSEFVE6

5G-

  • Galaxy S20: G981BXXSEFVE6
  • Galaxy S20+: G986BXXSEFVE6
  • Galaxy S20 Ultra: G988BXXSEFVE6

As for Galaxy A72 has also been equipped with the June update with firmware update build no. A725FXXU4BVE3; this update was rolled out in Malaysia and is expected to be released in the other part of Asia soon.

Galaxy A72 was released last year in March, and the Galaxy S20 series in March 2020. Galaxy A72 most likely will get the upcoming significant updates for both OneUI and android OS as part of Samsungs four year software update policy and is a recently launched device.

As for the Galaxy S20 series, it will most probably get only the next OneUI and android update.

According to Samsung’s and Google’s report, its June 2022 security patch fixes dozens of vulnerabilities related to user privacy and data security, such as SIM card data access, remote code execution, improper access controls, MAC address information, camera access, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Samsung account, etc. and improvements in native or stock apps. It fixes system lag and App crashes and improves overall system stability for the Galaxy S20 trio and Galaxy A72.

The update is for security and privacy fix but is not limited to it, and it can also include general bug fixes and device stability improvements. This update brings only security level updates resolved by Google and UI-related fixes by Samsung. Users can see the security fixes in the link. Users can check for the latest software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install or turning auto-updates or notifications on in your device’s settings.

Samsung Galaxy S22 receives May 2024 security patch in Europe

Last week, Samsung initiated the May 2024 security patch with the Galaxy S24 series devices. Now,  it has started expanding the update to more devices, like the Galaxy S22 series.

Notably, the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra devices are getting a May 2024 security patch with the firmware version numbers S901BXXSAEXE3, S906BXXSAEXE3, and S908BXXSAEXE3, respectively. As of writing, the update has been spotted in the European regions and is expected to be available in more regions in the next few days.

The May 2024 security patch for Galaxy S22 devices doesn’t bring any new features or changes, but it will surely bring some enhancements that will strengthen the security mechanisms of the Galaxy devices, and therefore it is coming in a small software package of 270.07 MB. Along with this, it may also bring some fixes for the issues that appeared in previous software updates.

If you are facing any issues while using the previous update of One UI 6.1 features, then you should try the latest update. It may address some issues that will improve the overall performance of the devices.

One UI 6.1 and Galaxy AI Update available in Canada

Samsung has rolled out the One UI 6.1 update for all the Galaxy devices launched back in 2021 and 2022; however, the company hasn’t distributed the update for all the units available in different regions around the world. Now with the latest development, the Korean giant has rolled out the batch of the latest major update for flagship devices, including the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

One UI 6.1 update brings several new features

The One UI 6.1 has brought a lot of new features that will allow users to take advantage of different features. For the last year, flagship devices including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 devices have received revolutionary Galaxy AI features that bring the utility of text summarization, translation, live call translation, and many more. Meanwhile, the models released back in 2021 have only received one Galaxy AI feature, Circle to Search, which allows users to instantly search images.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE units in Europe started getting the One UI 6.1 update; earlier, these devices had already grabbed the update in the US. Now, with the latest development, these devices are getting new updates in more regions, and gradually, they will be available world-wide.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE units are getting a new update with the firmware version number G990B2XXU6GXD6. With the latest update, the company hasn’t released a new May 2024 security patch for the devices. And continues to use the April 2024 security patch for the devices.

The One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S21 FE doesn’t bring any Galaxy AI features, but it will surely provide some new significant additions under the existing functionalities. According to the changelog, the latest update has brought several innovations that will help you create epic images, increase customization, enhance connectivity, and share.
