March 2023 security update rolls out for Galaxy S20/S21/Note 20, and Z Flip 5G in Australia

Samsung is very strict towards its update policy. The company has rolled out several Galaxy devices capable of handling One UI 5.0 update; the list includes several Galaxy devices, including Galaxy S10, Note 10, and several A series devices. But the Good aspect of the policy is that it confirms that for how much time a device will get the support of new updates of Android and security updates. Now following the policy, the Korean giant has released the March 2023 security update for some more Galaxy devices.

Samsung has now released the March 2023 security update for Galaxy Note 20Galaxy S20Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G devices in Australia; however, these devices have already received the same update in several other countries. The only difference is their build number. Let’s check out what will be the new software version for each device so you can identify it easily.

The Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra smartphones will get the March 2023 update with version numbers G991BXXS6EWBB, G996BXXS6EWBB and G998BXXS6EWBB, respectively. While Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Ultra will grab the update with these version numbers G981BXXSFHWB1, G986BXXSFHWB1 and G988BXXSFHWB1 sequentially.

Meanwhile, the update for Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will come with these build numbers N981FXXS5HWC1 and N985FXXS5HWC1, respectively. On the other hand, Galaxy Z Flip 5G is getting the update with version number F707BXXS7JWB1.

The latest update doesn’t bring any new features, but it comes with fixes which Google and Samsung include in improving the security of devices. According to the official documentation of Samsung, the March 2023 security patch includes over 60 security fixes; from those, 40 were included by Google, which targets the loopholes present in the Android OS, while the other 23 patches included by Samsung improve that fixes the vulnerabilities of Galaxy devices. 

How to Install

Users who own any of the above-mentioned devices can easily install the update by following the below steps 

  1. First, go to the system settings
  2. Now scroll down and tap on software update
  3. Here tap on Download and install button
  4. Wait until it finished searching
  5. If the update is available touch on the Download button (it will start downloading and installed automatically)
