Samsung has pushed the May 2023 security update in most of the flagship devices, including Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, and many more. However, the company has rolled out the security update in limited countries. So, now the company is expanding it into more countries, such as some Galaxy Z Foldable smartphones are receiving the update.
Currently, the May 2023 security update is live for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 in the US. The latest update is rolling out for the Carrier unlocked variant of these devices.
Users who own Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 can identify the latest update by version numbers F936U1UES2CWD7 and F721U1UES2CWD7, respectively. Meanwhile, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are getting the latest update with version numbers F926U1UES3FWD7 and F711U1UES4FWD7.
The May 2023 security update doesn’t include any new features and comes as a normal monthly security update that brings some bug fixes that enhance the overall security of the device. As the update resolves the internal issues of devices, it might also improve the performance and stability of the device.
As per the information, the latest security update includes over 70 security patches. From those, 55 patches were included by Google that target the Android OS. Samsung has also added 21 patches that resolve several issues present in Galaxy devices.
Previously, Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Fold 3 were only eligible for three major Android updates, but with the recent policy update, Samsung has promised to give at least four Android updates for these devices.
However, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 were introduced after the policy was issued, so they are already enjoying four years of Android updates which means users will get new Android updates up to Android 16.
