The May 2023 security update doesn’t include any new features and comes as a normal monthly security update that brings some bug fixes that enhance the overall security of the device. As the update resolves the internal issues of devices, it might also improve the performance and stability of the device.

As per the information, the latest security update includes over 70 security patches. From those, 55 patches were included by Google that target the Android OS. Samsung has also added 21 patches that resolve several issues present in Galaxy devices.

Previously, Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Fold 3 were only eligible for three major Android updates, but with the recent policy update, Samsung has promised to give at least four Android updates for these devices.

However, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 were introduced after the policy was issued, so they are already enjoying four years of Android updates which means users will get new Android updates up to Android 16.
