Samsung is aggressively rolling out new updates for Galaxy devices. For the large-screen devices, the company is expanding the One UI 5.1.1 update, while for other devices, the company is rolling out the August 2023 security patch update. While some Galaxy device companies are pushing a second August 2023 update. The list includes the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra.

Notably, the carrier-unlocked units of the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are getting the new update with firmware version numbers N981U1UEU5HWHA and N986U1UEU5HWHA, respectively. While the locked variants are getting the new update with different version numbers (N981USQU5HWH9 and N981USQU5HWH9), Currently, the update is rolling out on two carriers, including T-Mobile and Sprint.

With the latest update, Samsung hasn’t revealed anything in the changelog, so it is not clear if the update brings any new changes to any functionalities or not. Users who own the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra in locked and unlocked variants can easily update their devices. They should start getting notifications of the update’s availability. Alternatively, you can also update your device manually by going to the system settings.

The Galaxy Note 20 was introduced back in 2020, and it comes with Android 10 preinstalled. Later, it received three major updates, and currently, the device is running on Android 13. Now that the device is no longer eligible to get any major updates, it will get some more updates in the form of security patches.
