Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy A53 5G get new firmware in Canada
After updating the Galaxy smartphones in different parts of the world, Samsung is now gradually expanding them to Canada. In the past couple of days, the company has updated several high-end Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and more, with the latest One UI update. Now the company is expanding the August 2023 update to more Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy A53 5G.
The Canadian units of the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are receiving the update with firmware version numbers N981WVLU5HWH9 and N986WVLU5HWH9, respectively. Galaxy A53 5G is getting the update with version number A536WVLU7CWH1. The August 2023 update is one of the security maintenance updates, so you should not expect any noticeable changes.

However, the latest update will bring some security improvements to the devices. According to the official documentation, the latest update will bring 80+ fixes for enhancement of devices. Of those patches, some are included by Google to fix issues found in the Android OS, while others are added by Samsung exclusively for its Galaxy devices.
The Galaxy A53 was launched in 2022, and Samsung has promised to give it a five-year update where it will receive four major Android updates and five years of security updates. So this is why the device will get the upcoming Android 14 and One UI 6 updates in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 20 series was launched back in 2020, and it came with Android 10 preinstalled. These devices were only promised to get three major updates, and due to this, they are stuck with Android 13. However, they will still get some more minor software updates.
