One UI 6 Users to Get More Control Over Lock Screen Clock Font

Published

on

With the One UI 6 rollout, the new user interface has seen a great improvement with its customized advancements. Starting with the Galaxy S23 series, which was made accessible for the beta upgrade, many eligible Galaxy smartphones have been granted the One UI 6 Beta rollout. Even the foldables will receive the update within this month or soon. Now the lockscreen clock will receive more font choices with the new update. This new feature is something that the user’s requested for a long time. Through the feedback from the beta testers for the One UI 6.0, the firm is bringing the request to access.

Earlier in the One UI 5.1.1 upgrade, there were nine different font styles for the lock screen clock; however, the choice is limited. But non-foldable Galaxy smartphones are not eligible for One UI 5.1.1, so only the users of Galaxy foldables and tablets can enable the feature. Through the One UI 6.0-based Android 14, the font improvement in the lockscreen clock can be given access to many devices. The clock stylization may also get an upgrade, as the users have done with the limited six versions that offer four digital clocks and two analog clocks.

The One UI 6 upgrade has given the Quick Settings (QS) panel a lot of attention. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth options now each have their own row at the top of the QS panel, while other features, such as eye comfort mode and dark mode, Another new feature is a camera widget that functions more as a dedicated shortcut for user-preset camera modes than as a live viewfinder. This widget will be really helpful if you like a certain set of camera settings. You may now look for long-press features particular to a given app in the app drawer.

Updated – Samsung initially confirmed the list of devices for expanding its Galaxy AI features, including the Galaxy S23 FE, but left out the Galaxy S22 series. After that, the controversy heated up over the fact that, despite having the same processor, the Galaxy S22 series is not eligible to get Galaxy AI features. Now, finally, in the second batch of the Android 14-based One UI 6.1 rollout, Samsung has delivered the Galaxy AI feature to the Galaxy S22 series

Along with the Galaxy S22 series, a few other flagships, including the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, also received the One UI 6.1 update, but these devices are only eligible for the Circle to Search with Google feature, whereas the Galaxy S22 receives all the Galaxy AI features the same as the Galaxy S23 FE.

Original Story Published – May 02, 2024

The wait is over here! Samsung is rolling out the Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update to more high-end Galaxy smartphones and foldable phones.

Initially, the Korean giant introduced the One UI 6.1 on the Galaxy S24 series out of the box and later expanded it to a few flagship devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, the fifth generation of the Galaxy foldable, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series. After that, the brand promised to provide an update soon for the 2022 flagship Galaxy devices.

The Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update is quite awaited since it brought a mesmerizing novelty called ‘Galaxy AI’, a power package of generative AI features, including chat assistants, generative wallpapers, note assistants, photo editing, live translation calls, and more.

Samsung debuted Galaxy AI features exclusive to the Galaxy S24, but then, as per the convenience and expectations of flagship device owners, the brand expanded the availability of generative AI features, except for a few features such as instant slow-mo. Since this requires a high-end processor, all the devices are not eligible to handle these features flawlessly.

Now that the brand has added some more devices to the One UI 6.1 update list, here’s the list. Check whether your device is on the list or not

Galaxy S series

Galaxy Foldable & Tablet

Except for the Galaxy S21, the rest of the devices mentioned in the list get the Galaxy AI features, whereas the Galaxy S21 only gets the Circle to Search feature.

Samsung One UI 6.1 Aims for 100 Million Downloads

Samsung Electronics introduced its Galaxy AI on the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, in January. Now the giant is targeting more than 100 million users worldwide to experience its generative AI novelty.

In February, Samsung announced that it decided to expand the Galaxy AI features through a new One UI 6.1 update rollout beginning in March for the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series. As promised, Samsung has already delivered the One UI 6.1 update, along with Galaxy AI features, to these devices.

After its rollout, Samsung has noticed that nearly 8.8 million users are downloading and actively using these Galaxy AI capabilities across Europe. The picture didn’t stop here since the usage figures are increasing continuously, and now, by the end of 2024, the Korean giant is targeting having over 100 million users experiencing its Galaxy AI features across the world.

Galaxy AI consists of a variety of generative AI features, but the most popular AI innovations since launch include:

  • Live Translate, Live Transcribe, Chat Assist, and Circle to Search with Google

The giant also mentioned the percentage metrics of device users across Europe who have downloaded the One UI 6.1 update:

  • Galaxy Z Fold 5: 75%
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra: 80%
  • Galaxy Tab S9: 65%

Transparently, One UI 6.1 is the most popular software update from Samsung yet, and now, with the success of the first rollout of the update in April, Samsung is announcing the second roll-out phase, bringing Galaxy AI to even more Galaxy smartphones and tablets, including the Galaxy S22 series, the Galaxy Z fold 4, and the Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable phone.

One UI 6.1 Arrives for Galaxy S21 FE, A54 & A53 in Canada on May 14th

We are in the first week of May, and as Samsung promised that it would expand the One UI 6.1 update to more Galaxy devices, it has already started rolling it out. However, the update is currently available for some premium devices, while other device users have to wait for it. Now, here is good news for users who are using the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy A53. These devices are scheduled to get the One UI 6.1 update in Canada this month.

According to the information shared by Telus, a popular Canadian network carrier, Samsung could introduce the One UI 6.1 update to the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy A53, and Galaxy A54 on May 14. However, it doesn’t claim to provide the One UI 6.1 update to the devices on the exact date, but it is confirmed that the update is on the way to arrive for the nearby device.

For your information, Samsung hasn’t brought the Galaxy AI feature for the flagship devices released in 2021, which includes the Galaxy S21 series as well, which indicates that there are very few chances that the fan edition of the Galaxy S21 model could get those features except Circle to search with Google. Along with this, the other non-flagship devices could only get some existing function enhancements that are not related to AI.

If we talk about the availability of One UI 6.1 in Canada, Samsung hasn’t rolled out the One UI 6.1 update to any devices launched back in 2022 or older, which means the major update may get more delayed for other devices as well. In other countries, the rollout of the latest update may start earlier.
