The Galaxy S23 gets the December 2023 security update and starts in the US


The Galaxy S23 is the latest high-end device introduced by Samsung in the S series lineup. As the device belongs to the flagship segment, it has always grabbed new updates in the initial phase. Now,  following the same tradition, the company has also started serving the latest security patch update for the flagship device with the December 2023 security patch.

The December 2023 security update is now available for the Galaxy S23 in the US. Users who own carrier-locked Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra can identify the latest update by the firmware version numbers S911USQS2BWKA, S916USQS2BWKA and S918USQS2BWKA respectively. The update currently available on US Cellular network and will soon expand other carriers and unlocked units.

The December 2023 security patch is part of the latest Android maintenance program, so do not expect much from the update. It is coming with several new fixes for the bugs that were found in the last software update. According to the official documentation, the latest firmware includes more than 60 fixes; from them, 50 patches were added by Google, while Samsung has also included 16 more patches that will enhance the Galaxy ecosystem.

Moreover, the latest update aims to strengthen the security of Galaxy devices; more specifically, it will ensure that your device will get the updated functions that can identify the latest definition of malware, so it can easily identify them and make the device non-vulnerable. Sometimes these updates also give important features or improvements, so if you are getting any issues from the last update, then you should update your device to the latest version.

If you are using the Galaxy S23 device in the US, then now you can easily install the latest update from the software update menu in the system’s main settings. It is worth noticing that the update is currently spotted on the US cellular network. But it is expected to be available to more units in the coming days.
