Samsung brings December 2023 security update for Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 FE devices in Canada

Published

on

Samsung has initiated the December 2023 update for Canadian users. The update is currently available for two high-end devices, including the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy S20 FE devices. Other high-end device users are expected to receive the update in the next few days as part of this rollout.

The latest update for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra can be identified by the firmware version numbers G981WVLSBHWK2, G986WVLSBHWK2, and G988WVLSBHWK2, respectively. The Fan Edition device is getting the update with a different firmware version number, G781WVLSCHWK1.

The latest update for these devices is coming with a new security update in the form of a December 2023 patch. With this update, you will not see any significant changes to your device, but it will enhance the overall security of devices. According to the official documentation, the latest security update will bring 60+ patches, which were added by Google and Samsung.

Moreover, it will make your device less vulnerable and capable of fighting against external threats that can cause damage to your device and breach your privacy. To make the device protective, you should always keep it up-to-date with the latest version.

Apart from these, the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy S20 FE are no longer eligible for any major updates. The reason behind this is that these devices are only eligible for three major updates that have already arrived for them, and Android 13 was the last one. However, they will still grab some more updates as security updates in the coming days.

If you are also using the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 FE devices in Canada, then you should update them to the latest version. To do that, you can simply go to the software update menu from the main system settings, tap on the download and install option, wait for some time until it checks for the new update; if it says the new update is available, then tap the download button.

Earlier this month, Samsung officially announced that it will provide one UI 6.1 update to the 2022 flagship device in May. But now the company has surprisingly started rolling out the update to one of the midrange Galaxy A23 devices.

The Verizon network has spotted the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A23, with the firmware version number A236VSQU3CXD3. It has also brought the latest security update in the form of an April 2024 security patch. With the latest update, there are several new features introduced that will add some new features and enhancements.

In detail, the latest update for the Galaxy A23 5G introduces a new battery protection feature that allows users to manage the application’s battery charging to prevent battery damage. There are some new changes in the clock customization, gallery, and Samsung account sections. It is important to note that there is no AI feature arriving in this update.

The update will also enable call continuity, mid-conversation device switching, and seamless communication across any device, such as a Galaxy table, computer, or watch, all connected to the same Samsung account. A small but important addition is a new toggle in the mobile network that allows users to turn off 5G if they don’t need to connect to the update.

If you are using the locked version of the Galaxy A23 on the Verizon network, then you can now update it to the latest version simply by going to the system settings and tapping on the software update. If it shows a new update available, then tap on the download button.
