Samsung Introduced a Camera Sharing Feature With One UI 6.1

Published

on

After crossing tons of leaks and rumors, finally One UI 6.1 is officially out now, along with tons of new convenient features, essential improvements, and changes, of which one remarkable feature named ‘Camera Sharing’ enhances the Galaxy smartphone’s camera experience.

One UI 6.1 Turns Your Phone into a Powerful Webcam for Galaxy Tablets

Samsung officially introduced its One UI 6.1 latest software with the Galaxy S24 series recently. With this new UI version, the brand is offering a new feature that permits users to use the camera of their Galaxy smartphone as a webcam for their Galaxy tablet. However, for now only the Galaxy S24 series is powered by Android 14-based One UI 6.1, and this new camera sharing feature has arrived with One UI 6.1, so at the moment it is only available on the Galaxy S24 lineup’s smartphones.

This feature is housed in the Galaxy S24 lineup’s Settings >> Connected Device. Once this feature enables the Camera Sharing toggle, users can easily use their phone’s camera as a webcam for a nearby Galaxy tablet.

For this feature to work, the Galaxy smartphone and Galaxy tablet need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and have Bluetooth and the Camera Sharing feature turned on. Basically, this feature permits users to use a better-quality camera to enhance their capturing experience.

With this feature, users will get a better dynamic range, higher details, and utterly brighter colors than the front-facing camera found on tablets. However, for now, it is not clear enough how smoothly and flawlessly this feature will work.

Noticeably, this brand new Camera Sharing feature, which arrives with One UI 6.1, is just different from the ability to use a Galaxy smartphone’s camera as a webcam for a PC or laptop running Windows OS. Also, the brand is permitting users to use their smartphone’s camera as a webcam for their Samsung smart TV. This feature is being speculated on by a tipster, Mishaal Rahman.

Updated – Samsung initially confirmed the list of devices for expanding its Galaxy AI features, including the Galaxy S23 FE, but left out the Galaxy S22 series. After that, the controversy heated up over the fact that, despite having the same processor, the Galaxy S22 series is not eligible to get Galaxy AI features. Now, finally, in the second batch of the Android 14-based One UI 6.1 rollout, Samsung has delivered the Galaxy AI feature to the Galaxy S22 series

Along with the Galaxy S22 series, a few other flagships, including the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, also received the One UI 6.1 update, but these devices are only eligible for the Circle to Search with Google feature, whereas the Galaxy S22 receives all the Galaxy AI features the same as the Galaxy S23 FE.

Original Story Published – May 02, 2024

The wait is over here! Samsung is rolling out the Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update to more high-end Galaxy smartphones and foldable phones.

Initially, the Korean giant introduced the One UI 6.1 on the Galaxy S24 series out of the box and later expanded it to a few flagship devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, the fifth generation of the Galaxy foldable, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series. After that, the brand promised to provide an update soon for the 2022 flagship Galaxy devices.

The Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update is quite awaited since it brought a mesmerizing novelty called ‘Galaxy AI’, a power package of generative AI features, including chat assistants, generative wallpapers, note assistants, photo editing, live translation calls, and more.

Samsung debuted Galaxy AI features exclusive to the Galaxy S24, but then, as per the convenience and expectations of flagship device owners, the brand expanded the availability of generative AI features, except for a few features such as instant slow-mo. Since this requires a high-end processor, all the devices are not eligible to handle these features flawlessly.

Now that the brand has added some more devices to the One UI 6.1 update list, here’s the list. Check whether your device is on the list or not

Galaxy S series

Galaxy Foldable & Tablet

Except for the Galaxy S21, the rest of the devices mentioned in the list get the Galaxy AI features, whereas the Galaxy S21 only gets the Circle to Search feature.

Samsung Electronics introduced its Galaxy AI on the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, in January. Now the giant is targeting more than 100 million users worldwide to experience its generative AI novelty.

In February, Samsung announced that it decided to expand the Galaxy AI features through a new One UI 6.1 update rollout beginning in March for the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series. As promised, Samsung has already delivered the One UI 6.1 update, along with Galaxy AI features, to these devices.

After its rollout, Samsung has noticed that nearly 8.8 million users are downloading and actively using these Galaxy AI capabilities across Europe. The picture didn’t stop here since the usage figures are increasing continuously, and now, by the end of 2024, the Korean giant is targeting having over 100 million users experiencing its Galaxy AI features across the world.

Galaxy AI consists of a variety of generative AI features, but the most popular AI innovations since launch include:

  • Live Translate, Live Transcribe, Chat Assist, and Circle to Search with Google

The giant also mentioned the percentage metrics of device users across Europe who have downloaded the One UI 6.1 update:

  • Galaxy Z Fold 5: 75%
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra: 80%
  • Galaxy Tab S9: 65%

Transparently, One UI 6.1 is the most popular software update from Samsung yet, and now, with the success of the first rollout of the update in April, Samsung is announcing the second roll-out phase, bringing Galaxy AI to even more Galaxy smartphones and tablets, including the Galaxy S22 series, the Galaxy Z fold 4, and the Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable phone.
