Samsung and Arm Team Up for Blazing-Fast Cortex-X CPU Cores
Samsung Foundry has officially announced that it is collaborating with Arm (Arm Holding PLC) for optimized fabrication of next-generation Cortex-X series CPU cores.
Samsung Foundry is a division of Korean Electronics that fabricates semiconductor chips. Somehow, it appears that this collaboration will improve the performance and power efficiency of CPU cores by using the latest Cortex-X lineup design of Arm and fabricated using the GAA process of Samsung Foundry.
Actually, Arm Holding is the leading technology provider of processor IP as well; it is based on a UK-based firm. It designs all the basic CPU architectures and designs used in modern smart gadgets, whether they are smartphones, smartwatches, or any other gadgets. The forthcoming generation Cortex-X lineup CPU from Arm is improved for Samsung Foundry’s Gate-All-Around (GAA) semiconductor chip fabrication technology. By this prospect, it appears that the next-generation Cortex-X series CPUs have already been designed in such a way that they will offer improved performance and power efficiency when they are fabricated using the 2nm and 3nm GAA processes of the Korean giants.
It seems that to expand the area of upcoming generation AI custom silicon, mobile chipsets, and data centers, both of these brands are planning to reinvent 2nm GAA technology. Although back in 2022, the Korean giants had already introduced their first-generation 3nm Multi-Bridge-Channel FET (MBCFET) chip production.
The new GAA technology delivers enhanced scaling as compared to the FinFET designs for improved power efficiency and reduced supply voltage level, driving performance at the next level. The brands stated that it is essential to deliver efficient products on time, which makes it critical to get the silicon design right without any delay. It is expected that smartphone chipsets with next-generation Cortex-X series CPUs will work better when brands use 2nm and 3nm GAA processes from Samsung Foundry.
