Samsung, TELUS & AWS Team Up for Seamless Global Connectivity

The new triplet collaboration of the tech industry is here: Samsung Electronics, Tesla, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The brands have officially announced a trailblazing collaboration that will see TELUS become the first telecommunications provider in North America by evolving the architecture of roaming, empowering greater reliability, and providing fast speeds for customers traveling abroad.

Providers’ home countries drive off roaming traffic, leading to slower speeds for customers. Along with this revolutionary new approach, Tesla is getting the power to house their network within AWS regions worldwide using virtualized roaming gateways.

It seems that traffic no longer needs to go through Canada but will be driven directly to the closest AWS region, which houses the TELUS network, efficiently improving the speed and responsiveness of mobile services. This mechanism, also known as network cloudification, uses cloud-native core technology from Samsung on the public cloud for mobile data and ng-voice for voice calling, enhancing performance and ultimately quality.

It is stated that this architecture evolution extremely gives strength to the commitment of TELUS to keeping the customers connected to what matters most, plus it also ensures that they can conveniently enjoy the same award-winning experience from anywhere.

The cloud-native Core of Samsung is designed with flexibility and scalability in mind. It is announced that in the first quarter of 2024, the virtual roaming gateway will begin, but the possibilities of this collaboration seem pretty far-fetched except for roaming.
