Samsung One UI Watch Evolution: Its incredible UI for Galaxy Watches

Samsung kicked off the mesmerizing journey of its Galaxy Watches years ago, and there’s no looking back. These wearables have evolved so incredibly, bringing a transcended and redefined experience to the users. Every new addition to the Galaxy wearable portfolio centers on Samsung’s vision for delivering a more personalized experience.

Meanwhile, here’s the entire evolution of the One UI Watch-based Galaxy Watch series over the past decade.

Samsung adopted the One UI Watch baseline with the Galaxy Watch Active and Active2 along with the Galaxy Watch 3, where the company incorporated its in-house Tizen OS, beginning in 2019.

Meanwhile, while announcing the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic in August 2021, Samsung collaborated with Google and worked together on Wear OS—Google’s operating system for smartwatches and other wearables—and Samsung is still continuing with Wear OS-based One UI Watch versions with its own customizations.

Samsung One UI Watch Evolution: From One UI Watch to One UI 6 Watch

One UI 1 Watch:

Samsung launched the Tizen OS-based One UI 1.0 Watch with the new lineup Galaxy Watch Active and Watch Active2, while it later got upgraded to One UI 2.0 Watch with the new Tizen OS update. This baseline was specifically designed for users with active lifestyles. It significantly allowed people to have a healthier lifestyle by offering a more personalized experience. The features included exercise, sleep, stress levels and blood pressure monitoring, an upgraded Galaxy ecosystem, and improved connectivity.

One UI 3 Watch:

This marks a new era of smartwatch innovation, where Samsung introduced a whole new operating system, Wear OS, which is powered jointly by Google. This generation marked the arrival of the newest Galaxy Watch 4 series, including the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, that featured an all-new Wear OS 3.0-based One UI 3.0 Watch. This new Wear OS generation brings some robust suite of health features with an entirely redesigned and seamless experience with the best tools to manage users’s health and wellness at their wrist.

One UI 4.5 Watch:

Samsung directly jumped to the One UI 4.5 Watch, which is based on the Wear OS 3.5 version powered by Samsung. However, it later got upgraded to Wear OS 4.0. This bump was introduced with the Galaxy Watch5 series, including the Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro, shaping much enhanced health and wellness habits with more intuitive insights, advanced features, and powerful capabilities. It also brings insightful sleep tracking, a fuller typing experience, an easier way to make calls, and a host of new accessibility features that make the Galaxy Watch experience more intuitive for the users.

One UI 5 Watch:

One UI Watch entered into another level—the Wear OS 4.0-based One UI 5.0 Watch. This newest generation came alongside the Galaxy Watch6 portfolio, including the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic. It brings a plethora of advanced health-focused and powerful tools, such as new personalized heart rate zones, irregular heart rhythm notification, insightful skin temperature measurement, and more.

Additionally, the One UI 5 Watch delivers some prominent elements to enhance the sleeping experience. With the new sleep insights UI, users will get knowledge of their sleeping insights followed by other metrics like sleep phases, snoring hours, and blood oxygen levels, along with sleep coaching tailored for making a more convenient and intuitive way for users to track their health habits.

One UI 6 Watch:

Samsung’s UI for watches entered into a new phase when the company expanded its Galaxy watch portfolio with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. These smartwatches arrived with the newest Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 Watch; however, this latest One UI Watch version is still running in its beta phase due to some unfinished bugs and other prominent issues that are required to get resolved for a better software experience.

Thus, seeing the growing interest among the Galaxy fans regarding the One UI 6 Watch stable version, Samsung has stated that they need some more time to resolve certain issues, while they are targeting the release timeline between October and November.
