While the Android 15 stable update rollout has already begun, Samsung is rapidly expanding the October 2024 security patch to all eligible Galaxy devices. Meanwhile, several devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5/Flip 5, and Fold 6/Flip 6, have started getting the update in the US.
The October 2024 security update is now available on the Verizon network for the carrier-locked Samsung Galaxy S23 line, Galaxy Z Fold 5/Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 6/Flip 6 in the US.
Meanwhile, the update for the carrier-locked Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra includes the firmware versions S911USQS4CXI4, S916USQS4CXI4, and S918USQS4CXI4.
On the other hand, the same update has arrived for the carrier-locked Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, which can be identified by the F946USQS4DXI9 and F731USQS4DXI9 build numbers. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 have the software versions F956USQS1AXIB and F741USQS1AXIB.
Although the October 2024 security update is simply a minor security patch, it significantly improves the device’s overall security while protecting it from certain external harms, offering users a safer and more secure environment.
Additionally, the update further adds various performance optimizations, brings stability to the device’s behavior, resolves certain known issues, applies the latest security patches, and delivers much-improved features and enhancements, which in turn help users have a smoother, stabler and more optimized software experience.
