Android 16 Could Bring Faster Way to Toggle Internet & Bluetooth

Samsung is still struggling with Android 15, while Google has already started gearing up for the next major Android 16 OS version. The coming Android 16 is expected to make it easier to turn on the Internet and Bluetooth on and off.

Reportedly, the Android 16 could simplify the process of activating and deactivating Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections with a single touch, making smartphone usage more smooth and efficient.

Currently, in Android smartphones to on or off the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection, two touches are required; soon, with the Android 16, it could be as low as one. Up to the latest Android 15 version, to activate or deactivate some Android features, the Quick Settings panel is required.

The Quick Settings panel on Android offers quick access to frequently used settings; for instance, Internet, Bluetooth, Geolocation, Flashlight, Airplane Mode, Hotspot, NFC, and more, saving time and effort.

However, a few features in the Quick Settings panel can be quickly on with just a single tap, but Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ask for two. According to a Android Authority, now Google with Android 16 might revert to a single-touch activation, similar to older Android versions.

Android 12 introduced a new design that needs two taps to on or off Wi-Fi and data. Whereas the Android 12 QPR2 simplified Bluetooth activation, the multi-app issue for Wi-Fi and mobile data persists. Google struggled hard to acknowledge the two-tap system for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth was inconvenient and prone to accidental deactivation. Now, finally, to address this, with Android 16, the company will introduce a one-touch activation and deactivation system for these features. Currently, there’s a lack of more details regarding this, but it will be interesting to see exactly what happens next.
