Android Auto No Longer Supported on Devices Running Android 8.0 or Older
Android Auto is definitely Google’s one of the best services that intelligently allows Android users to connect their smartphones with the car’s built-in system to focus on the road when driving. While adding new features for the Ford EVs in Android Auto, Google has decided to drop the support of Android Auto to Android phones, including Samsung Galaxy devices running Android 8.0 and lower versions.
Recent reports significantly reveal that they are unable to use Android Auto on their smartphones, as when using, users have been receiving messages that their phone is no longer compatible to use Android Auto from now on, as Google has changed the required versions for the Android devices to Android 8.0 or higher models.
Thus, this clearly states that alongside other older Android devices, Samsung Galaxy devices running Android Auto 8.0 or lower versions will not support Android Auto.
Meanwhile, taking Samsung smartphones in particular, the older Galaxy devices running Android 8.0 (Oreo) will automatically get ineligible to use Android Auto. Therefore, if you are using these Galaxy devices, you will be unable to connect your phone with your vehicle in order to access Android Auto.
On the contrary, Google is currently working on adding several new functionalities to Android Auto, including the NACS charging support for EVs, newer animations to Settings, an incident reporting feature, a new lane guidance UI, and much more. This will eventually offer users a more safe, secure, and smooth driving experience.
