Right after announcing the arrival of the tap-to-pay method via Family Link for kids in the US, Google Wallet seems to be working on introducing new location-based notifications for passes.

That’s great! While diving deeper, the Android Authority team has just discovered that with the latest version v24.44.695355101 of the Google Wallet app, they found a string that showcases the existence of the new location-based Nearby notifications feature for passes and tickets is being under development.

According to the code, the Google Wallet app will shortly offer you a new ability, allowing users to get notified about their upcoming flight timings, event tickets, and even the generic passes such as parking passes, library cards, insurance cards, and more on the basis of their device’s accurate location.

Alternatively, with this newest addition, the users will also be able to customize the location-based Nearby Notification feature of the Google Wallet app for individual passes. Thus, they will have the option to opt only for the notifications for the passes that are important to them.

Currently, Google Wallet users get notifications for their flights just hours before, while the event tickets are sent on the day of the event and other passes and insurance cards. However, they are not based on the device’s location. Meanwhile, this is going to change now, as the Google Wallet app is probably bringing the new location-based Nearby Notifications feature.

Lastly, this newest feature of this wallet app sounds interesting, as users will get notified about their passes based on their device’s accurate location, while it will be interesting to see how Google will implement this feature within the Wallet app.
