Samsung is aggressively taking steps to expand its foldable family and could debut its first tri-foldable phone in early 2026.
This year, Samsung launched its sixth-generation foldable devices, including Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Galaxy Z Flip 6, and one more under the new branding, named Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Now the brand is setting up to debut a bunch of next-generation foldable phones next year, including Galaxy Z Fold 7 & Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip FE.
Previously, it was reported that Samsung could launch its first tri-foldable phone in 2025, but now it seems that is not the case, since the new report overpassed the old report. If the new report from a Display analyst, Ross Young is to be believed, Samsung will debut its first tri-foldable phone in 2026.
Recently, it was reported that Samsung patented a new design for a future tri-fold Galaxy smartphone that suggested that the device will offer improvements in screen technology, including a special opening to reduce stress at the hinges a protective layer, and an anti-reflective coating to compete with its rival Huawei.
If any other foldable manufacturer does not debut the tri-foldable phone until 2026, then Samsung will be the first brand to launch the tri-foldable worldwide since Huawei introduced its tri-fold phone in selected markets.
However, Samsung has yet to announce any official decision regarding its future strategy to release its first tri-foldable device.
