Samsung is close to debuting the Galaxy S25 series next year at the Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 January 2025 and is also planning to increase the shipment of the Galaxy S-series next year over the Galaxy Z-series.
Samsung Electronics planned to increase shipments of the Galaxy S-series next year and decrease shipments of the Galaxy Z series, which means foldable phones. This year, it has debuted the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 and is supposed to debut the seven-generation foldable phones next year: the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
According to the report from Etnews, Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Experience (MX) division is looking forward to setting shipment targets for flagships with high average selling prices (ASPs) next year.
The company is setting a 3 million units target for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and a 2 million units target for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The current sixth-generation foldable series meets an 8.2 million units goal. This means that the company is planning to reduce at least 3 million foldable units in 2025 as compared to 2024.
The reason behind this seems to be a fall of 16.3% that Samsung’s MX division saw in the third-quarter profits. Usually, Korean customers demand foldable phones the most, but this year pre-sales for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip didn’t meet the expectation and only reached 910,000 units; it’s a decline from 1.02 million the previous year.
