Samsung is the best smartphone manufacturer among a few big names, with its innovations having already received a lot of heights in the tech industry. Well, the smartphone technology has become advanced with the arrival of touchscreens, eliminating the need for the physical buttons, but not fully, though.

This can be noticed via a new patent filed, which could bring the latest responsive tactile input mechanism for Samsung’s future Galaxy smartphones and smartwatches.

Substantially, reports reveal that Samsung Electronics has filed a small patent (via WIPO) that hints about a new button for its smartphones and wearables that are significantly made up of conductive material, which can transfer microcurrents generated by an external element (user’s fingers) to electronic components present inside the device.

Alternatively, this patent further suggests this new conductive key button mechanism can be used on smartphones and smartwatches alike. It’s a responsive input technique that consists of components, including a metal layer that could probably be a base for the key button; a deposition layer is for matching the device’s colors.

Potentially, the new Conductive Key button may offer a more quick, responsive input method while also probably implementing a biometric method that could help in keeping the device’s personal data insights safe and secure. Apart from this, it’s also allegedly reported that alongside Samsung, Apple is also eyeing introducing such a mechanism into its devices.
