Samsung Galaxy AI Supports On-Device Processing, But Not for All Devices

Samsung has adapted itself to dominate in the ongoing AI trend all around the world. While the demand for AI technology is rising faster, it has pushed its limits based on Galaxy AI functionalities that will enable powerful data processing, with a large part of it being prepared to run locally on devices, surprisingly!
Previously, a few reports suggested that Samsung’s latest flagship S series, the S25 models, will entirely change the reliance on cloud processing, as the smartphones have more advanced AI functionalities, thanks to Snapdragon 8 Elite’s excellence.
Although other Galaxy devices like the S24 and older eligible S and Z models can even handle on-device Galaxy AI data processing, with the latest Galaxy S25 series, devices can begin data processing locally on-device rather than being dependent on the cloud processing using the vast, powerful processing unit capabilities of the 8 Elite chipset that can handle complex AI tasks very seamlessly.
Besides that, the on-device processing will help users to have a more convenient, speedy, and secure experience.
Samsung Galaxy AI On-Device Processing Data
Since on-device processing sounds like the safest option, Samsung now permits users to process all their data locally on their smartphones via a few settings. However, when the Galaxy AI on-device processing is turned on in One UI 7, users will not be able to access a few AI features, while some of them go missing, though.
While a few AI features need to use cloud processing to provide quick yet best results, users will be able to see features such as:
- Call Assist
- Writing Assist
- Summarize
- Organize
- Note Assist
- Auto format
- Summarize
- Spelling and grammar
- Generate cover
- Sketch to image
- Browsing Assist
- Read highlights aloud
- Photo Assist
- Sketch to edit
- Portrait studio
On the other hand, features like Summarize and Sketch to image could not work when the on-device processing is enabled, as they are heavily dependent on online cloud-based processing.
Here’s how to enable Galaxy on-device data processing:
Settings >> Search for Galaxy AI >> Tap on the Process data only on device toggle.
