Breaking: One UI 5.1.1 rolls out for Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3

Published

on

Not too long ago, we saw the introduction of new software from the big Korean tech company, Samsung. They call it One UI 5.1.1. They unveiled it while showing off their new folding phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, along with some big tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. With this new software, which is based on Android 13, Samsung wants to make the experience of using these folding devices with big screens much better.

Once they announced their plan to bring One UI 5.1.1 to a bunch of Galaxy devices, Samsung is usually good at keeping their promises, especially when it comes to updates. In fact, they’ve already started rolling out this new software for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8 tablets.

One UI 5.1.1 update for Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3

Now the South Korean giant has started rolling out the One UI 5.1.1 update for Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphone users. The update is currently available in Europe and the United States. The respective firmware versions are F926BXXU5FWH5 and F711BXXU6FWH3 for European units. On the other hand, the carrier-locked Galaxy Z Flip 3 is receiving the One UI 5.1.1 update on the US Cellular network with firmware version F711USQU5GWH3. At the same time, the devices benefit, thanks to the update in question, from the latest security fixes thanks to the August 2023 patches, with which Samsung takes care to solve 2 critical level, 50 high-grade, and 1 moderate-grade (CVE) vulnerabilities, as well as 19 EVS (Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures) specific to Galaxy devices.

Samsung phones that will grab Android 14 (One UI 6) as their first major OS update

The update for the new One UI version brings a bunch of cool stuff for devices with big screens. You can now easily drag and drop files using two hands, hide pop-up windows on one side, and quickly switch between pop-up view and multi-window mode for certain apps. They’ve also made the taskbar better, so you can see up to four recently used apps on the right side.

When you’re sharing stuff, there are new features too. You can now set a time limit for how long someone can see a file when you share it privately. And you can use Quick Share to send files to people even if they’re not on the same Wi-Fi network.

Even the photo editor that comes with Samsung phones has some new tricks. They replaced the sliders with dials that are easier to use. And if you like to customize your phone’s look, now you can change modes right from the lock screen and use more characters for the clock widget on the lock screen.

If you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, you should receive the notification soon regarding the availability of the One UI 5.1.1 update, but if you do not want to wait, you can manually download and install the update by following the path Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install.

Samsung Brings only Two AI Features to Galaxy S21, Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3

The Samsung Galaxy AI feature has brought a revolution to Galaxy devices. With its introduction, the company has been successful in creating a strong image of innovation, and we have also seen the results where it has achieved record sales of its latest flagship devices, i.e., the Galaxy S24 series. Then, to provide these features to the older devices, it has expanded the One UI 6.1 update for other devices; however, the company has only provided two features for the devices released back in 2021.

Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, Fold 3, and Flip 4 have Circle to Search and Chat Assistant AI Features of One UI 6.1

Samsung has recently introduced the One UI 6.1 for older devices, including the Galaxy S21 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 3, and the Galaxy Z Flip 3. For these devices, the company has only introduced two Galaxy AI features in the form of Circle to Search and Chat Assistant.

Circle to search: The Circle to search feature allows users to instantly search for information about the images that appear on the screen with convenience. The circle-to-search works on the same principle as Google Lens, but to make it more appealing, the company has made accessing the feature simple. This means you can easily search the objects by incircle after pressing the home button or navigation bar.

Chat Assistant: Chat Assistant is another innovation that improves the user experience of conversation. The feature dedicatedly provides translation in 13 languages with Samsung’s original keyboard.

Meanwhile, other flagship Galaxy devices, which were launched in 2022 or later, have received several other Galaxy AI features, including browsing assistance, live call translation, note assistance, and many more. However, it may be possible that some of these Galaxy AI features may arrive for older devices in the next major update.

However, the company hasn’t brought the update for the FE edition of the devices at the time. Fortunately, Galaxy S21 FE users also get a taste of One UI 6.1 features in the US.

Carrier-Locked Galaxy S21 FE gets One UI 6.1 update in the US

One UI 6.1 update without any Galaxy AI features

Samsung has brought the One 6.1 update with several features that offer customization related to the lock screen, alarm, calendar, and many more for the Galaxy S21 FE, but it hasn’t introduced the revolutionary innovations with the absence of Galaxy AI features, which has leveled up the user expertise in the field of providing convenience for the users. Even the Circle to Search feature available in the main Galaxy S21 series has not arrived for the fan edition.

Installation

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE (locked) users in the US can now update the device to the latest version by following these steps: First, go to the settings, then tap on the software update menu. If it shows a new update available, tap on the download button. If the update hasn’t arrived on your device, don’t worry; it will be soon available for you.
