US Unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 getting January 2024 security update

Samsung has started rolling out the January 2024 security patch for its Galaxy devices. As the company doesn’t follow any specific pattern to update the devices, it has randomly rolled out the update to many devices. Now,  moving forward, the company has rolled out the update for Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 devices.

Notably, these devices have already grabbed the update on the locked variants. Now, the unlocked variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 are coming with the firmware version numbers F946U1UES1BWL7 and F926U1UES4HWL7, respectively. The January 2024 update is one of the standard security updates, which doesn’t bring any new features but will provide some internal functional enhancements for the devices.

Going into details, the January 2024 security patch is coming with a plethora of new fixes that are included by Google and Samsung. More specifically, there are 80 fixes introduced, of which 75 are introduced by Google to fix the bugs identified in the Android OS, and additionally, 5 more fixes are introduced by Samsung to strengthen the security of the Galaxy devices exclusively.

If you are also using the unlocked variants of Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 3, then you can now update them by going to the software update menu via main system settings.


Is January 2024 available on every carrier for Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 3?

If you are using the unlocked variants of these devices then the update will soon available for your devices. While locked Galaxy Z Fold 5 received the update on T-Mobile. MetroPCS, Comcast, Spectrum mobile and US Cellular, while Fold 3 is currently spotted on Metro PCS and T-Mobile.

Is this update related to One UI?

No, this is a regular security update which is given by Google to Android devices, however, there will be some bug fixes are also introduced by Samsung to bring some boost to the performance of the Galaxy devices.

What is the updated eligibility of these devices?

Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 come with a promise to get at least five years of software updates, where they will get four major updates. Therefore,  the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is eligible to get major updates up to Android 15, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will get updates up to Android 17.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE units in Europe started getting the One UI 6.1 update; earlier, these devices had already grabbed the update in the US. Now, with the latest development, these devices are getting new updates in more regions, and gradually, they will be available world-wide.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE units are getting a new update with the firmware version number G990B2XXU6GXD6. With the latest update, the company hasn’t released a new May 2024 security patch for the devices. And continues to use the April 2024 security patch for the devices.

The One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S21 FE doesn’t bring any Galaxy AI features, but it will surely provide some new significant additions under the existing functionalities. According to the changelog, the latest update has brought several innovations that will help you create epic images, increase customization, enhance connectivity, and share.

If you are using the Galaxy S21 FE devices in Europe, then you should have started receiving notifications about the update, but if you haven’t received the notification yet, you can also check out the update manually from the system settings.

One UI 6.1 Arrives for Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE and S9 FE+

After introducing the One UI 6.1 update to flagship tablets, including the Galaxy Tab S9 series and Galaxy Tab S8 series, the fan edition tablets have also started getting the new update. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ are starting to get the UI 6.1 update.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ were spotted getting new updates in Europe and South Korea. More specifically, in South Korea, the update is spotted for the Wi-Fi variant, which is coming with the firmware version numbers X510XXU3BXE1 and X610XXU3BXE1, respectively.

Meanwhile, in Europe, the 5G variant of these devices is getting a new update with the firmware version number X*16BXXU3BXDG, respectively. For the Wi-Fi variant, the update is coming with the firmware version number X*10XXU3BXE1.

The One UI 6.1 update for Galaxy Tab S9 FE devices doesn’t bring any AI features, but even after that, the update provides some significant changes for the tablets. With the latest update, there are several new features, like copy and paste from one image to another, more accurate image clipping, and multiple customization features related to lock screen, alarm, calendar, and many more.
