Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A71 5G getting April 2023 security update in the US

Samsung always tries its best to update its Galaxy devices with the latest software; for information, the company distributes two types of updates which includes a new version of One UI (skin updates)and monthly security updates. These updates are available for the Galaxy devices according to their eligibility, such as now the Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A71 5G are getting the new security update in the form of an April 2023 security patch.

The April 2023 security update is one of the monthly updates that usually bring fixes that enhance the overall performance of the device. But this time, the update also brings a new feature, Image Clipper, for high-end devices. This feature has already dropped for Galaxy A53 5G in Europe, so it is highly expected that the update will be available for the US units of these devices, including Galaxy A71 5G and Galaxy A53 5G.

The latest update for the Unlocked variant of the Galaxy A71 5G and Galaxy A53 5G can be identified by their firmware version numbers A716U1UES8GWD1 and A536U1UEU4CWD1, respectively. It is also worth noticing that the locked units of Galaxy A71 5G are also getting the same update with the firmware version number A716USQS8GWD1.

The unlocked units of Galaxy A53 5G devices are getting new updates on several networks, including T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, AT&T, US Cellular, Cricket Wireless, and Cellular South US. While the Galaxy A71 5G (unlocked is getting updates on these networks: T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, AT&T, US Cellular, Cricket Wireless, Cellular South US, and Sprint. The carrier-locked variant of Galaxy A71 5G is receiving the update on the T-Mobile network.

The Galaxy A53 5G was launched in 2022; it came with Android 12. However, it has received two more major updates in the form of One UI 5 and One UI 5.1, which are based on Android 13. Being a one-year-old device, it will be eligible for at least three major Android updates, so it is expected to get two more Android updates in the future.

On the other hand, Galaxy A71 5G was released back in 2020 and came with Android 10; the device is promised to get at least three major updates, so it makes it eligible to get new updates upto Android 13, and it has already received it, but it will still get some new update in the form of security updates in the coming days.

Samsung Galaxy S22 receives May 2024 security patch in Europe

Last week, Samsung initiated the May 2024 security patch with the Galaxy S24 series devices. Now,  it has started expanding the update to more devices, like the Galaxy S22 series.

Notably, the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra devices are getting a May 2024 security patch with the firmware version numbers S901BXXSAEXE3, S906BXXSAEXE3, and S908BXXSAEXE3, respectively. As of writing, the update has been spotted in the European regions and is expected to be available in more regions in the next few days.

The May 2024 security patch for Galaxy S22 devices doesn’t bring any new features or changes, but it will surely bring some enhancements that will strengthen the security mechanisms of the Galaxy devices, and therefore it is coming in a small software package of 270.07 MB. Along with this, it may also bring some fixes for the issues that appeared in previous software updates.

If you are facing any issues while using the previous update of One UI 6.1 features, then you should try the latest update. It may address some issues that will improve the overall performance of the devices.

Samsung has rolled out the One UI 6.1 update for all the Galaxy devices launched back in 2021 and 2022; however, the company hasn’t distributed the update for all the units available in different regions around the world. Now with the latest development, the Korean giant has rolled out the batch of the latest major update for flagship devices, including the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

One UI 6.1 update brings several new features

The One UI 6.1 has brought a lot of new features that will allow users to take advantage of different features. For the last year, flagship devices including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 devices have received revolutionary Galaxy AI features that bring the utility of text summarization, translation, live call translation, and many more. Meanwhile, the models released back in 2021 have only received one Galaxy AI feature, Circle to Search, which allows users to instantly search images.

The One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S21 FE doesn’t bring any Galaxy AI features, but it will surely provide some new significant additions under the existing functionalities.
