Samsung releases July 2023 update for carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20, Fold2, Fold 4, Flip 4, and Galaxy S22 in the US
A couple of days ago, the Korean Giant released the new Android July 2023 patch firmware. This update aims to improve its devices’ security by implementing the latest security patches.
After ushering in the release cycle on the 2023 and 2022 flagships, the virtuous South Korean giant has begun to spread the update on Note devices and now also on the flagships and fold-tables of previous generations.
Verizon released July 2023 patch for Samsung Galaxy S22, Fold 4, Flip 4, and Fold 2
Following the release of the July update, Samsung wasted no time emphasizing its software support’s speed and reliability. The company provided a comprehensive overview of the update, which was specifically designed to enhance the security of their devices by addressing 90 critical issues.
In the last few hours, the US carrier Verizon has started the release of new security patches for six other smartphones no longer of the first hair: specifically, they are the 2022 Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra flagships, the 2022 Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4 clamshell folding and the 2020’s flagship foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G smartphone.
Below are the firmware codes that bring the new security patches and the countries from which the rollout is starting on the aforementioned smartphones:
- Galaxy S22 – S901USQS3CWF2
- Galaxy S22+ – S906USQS3CWF2
- Galaxy S22 Ultra – S908USQS3CWF2 (as with the other two S22s, it is already in distribution from some US carrier-locked and unlocked)
- Galaxy Z Fold 4 – F936USQS3CWF2
- Galaxy Z Flip 4 – F721USQS3CWF2
- Galaxy Z Fold2 5G – F916USQS3JWF3
Carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, and Fold 2 receive July 2023 update in the US
Unlike the smartphones mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, and Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G flagship of 2020 from the South Korean giant is now receiving a new update that brings July 2023 security patches to these devices.
The firmware in distribution, starting with some US carriers, is marked with the code N98*USQS4HWF5 for US Celluar Galaxy Note 20 units and F916USQS3JWF3 for Galaxy Z Fold2 5G locked by T-Mobile & Sprint carriers.
How to update Galaxy series smartphones
To check the availability of the update and possibly proceed with download and installation on the various Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 2, follow the path “Settings > Software Update” and, in the case of reporting the update, tap on “Download and Install”.
Do not worry if the update is not reported to you: the distribution proceeds gradually, starting from the countries indicated above, and will reach all devices within a few weeks.
