Android 16 Could Arrive as Early as June 3, 2025
Samsung has yet to reveal the exact release date for Android 15 (One UI 7); meanwhile, the exact date for Android 16 has already rolled out.
Google is aggressively working on its next major iteration, Android 16, to release it earlier than the usual timeline and has already announced that it is planning to launch Android 16 earlier for its Pixel devices.
Now one of our colleagues, Android Headlines, suggests the exact Android 16 release date and claims that it will be pushed to AOSP as well as the OTA for Pixel devices. According to the report, Google will introduce the Android 16 on June 3, 2025.
If this report comes true, then it will be the first time when Google will release its latest major Android OS in the first half of the year, since ritually it releases in the second half of the year. Reportedly, Android 16 will be available on the AOSP at the same time it starts rolling out to Pixel devices; this seems significantly earlier than previous Android versions.
The main reason behind the earlier release is to ensure it’s available on new devices in the fall, and it will be beneficial for Google to push out smaller updates throughout the entire year, focusing on AI-powered features and authorizing faster development and integration.
On the other side, presently, Samsung is looking forward to releasing the Android 15-based One UI 7 soon. Usually, it rolls out its latest One UI iteration a few days after the release of the latest Android version, although this time it is taking enough time to roll out the One UI update. However, the early Android 16 suggests a sooner OneUI 8.0 release.
