One UI 7, the latest software skin of Samsung that runs Android 15 on top, has continuously been in the headlines due to its release delay. While there are various questions that keep arising in Galaxy audience’s minds, such as the company seems to be considering skipping One UI 7.1 and more like this, let’s know what all happened so far and what’s the company’s next move for a stable rollout of its software skin.
This has all happened with One UI 7 so far; is Samsung to follow a totally different pattern?
A whole new timing for One UI 7
Since it was already confirmed that with Android 15-based One UI 7, Samsung has been working on introducing something exciting and was supposed to be the biggest revamp in the One UI history so far, and guess what? That’s exactly what happened, though.
Well, traditionally, Samsung brings its latest Galaxy S series with the One UI x.1 version, leaving other older Galaxy devices to test the latest One UI x.0 software’s beta state. Alternatively, the x.1 for the current S series flagships is reserved to be released somewhere in July, while the stable arrives for the same devices in October, leaving other older phones to test out beta until it gets stable.
However, this time, the stable One UI 7 launch has a whole new timing, with no major software update for an entire year. Samsung began the One UI 7 beta journey in December, 2024 and is still considering continuing with beta builds:
- December 5th, 2024: The first One UI 7 beta arrived for Galaxy S24 series owners with some amazing features and changes
- December 16th, 2024: One UI 7 Beta 2 released which is all about bug fixes and improvements.
- January 6th, 2025: One UI 7 Beta 3 came with some features like game booster playback settings, while also adding some additional functions that are not even mentioned in the changelog.
- 19th February, 2025: Samsung brought One UI 7 Beta 4; it introduces a few more bug fixes and improvements and two new features, AI Filters and Samsung Log (exclusive for Galaxy S24 Ultra).
The beta-stable story!
Well, strategy seems to have been changed as the Galaxy S25 series arrived with the stable One UI 7.0 build, replacing the 7.1 version totally; this suggests that there’s no One UI 7.1 update. Also, the S25 series owners received some new features that are exclusive to them, while the beta participants are currently testing the One UI 7 version but with some limited features. Since Samsung seems to have adopted this new scheme, it’s quite possible that it could go on with the same plan in the future with One UI 8 as well, where it will launch its latest S series with stable One UI 8.0 with some more additional and exclusive features, while allowing other older flagships to test beta builds but with some limited features.
Features and improvements with One UI 7
Indeed, Samsung has brought about a lot of significant changes and features with One UI 7, with for now the stable being reserved for the Galaxy S25 series smartphones, out of the box. These features include more improved Galaxy AI features, an all-new visual redesign that offers a more sophisticated and unique look, new standards for the home screen, and else you can get the detailed information in the changelog.

Samsung to bring One UI 8 beta right after distributing One UI 7 stable?
On the other hand, indeed nothing is clear as of now regarding Samsung’s plans for One UI 8, which will run Android 16 on top. Since Google has already been working on the next major OS, Android 16, with two developer previews and two beta builds already released, Samsung should do something in order to match Android 16’s stable release timeline, as it is already lagging behind. It will skip One UI 7.1 completely while also beginning work on One UI 8 just after delivering One UI 7 stable for all the eligible Galaxy devices.
