US Carrier-Locked Galaxy S22 Users Can Enjoy the October 2023 Security Update

Samsung Galaxy S22 devices are now covered behind the Galaxy S23 devices; therefore, they are now getting new updates. For instance, if you see the One UI 6 beta program, Samsung initially introduced the beta updates to the latest S series flagship device and introduced them to older devices after more than two weeks. However, for the security patch update, the company has chosen the Galaxy S22.

Notably, the Galaxy S22 series smartphones are getting a new update as of October 2023 security patch on the locked variants. Users can easily identify the latest update for Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra devices by the firmware version numbers S901USQS3CWI1, S906USQS3CWI1, and S908USQS3CWI1, respectively.

It is currently spotted on almost all carriers, including Verizon, MetroPCS, US Cellular, Spectrum Mobile, Xfinity (Comcast), Dish Wireless, and T-Mobile. However, the unlocked variants have also grabbed the update.

The October security patch is one of the normal updates that doesn’t bring anything special for smartphones; it is one of the standard maintenance updates that come every month from the Google side as it comes to open-source software so that other companies can customize it themselves. Samsung takes full advantage of it and adds some more fixes that are necessary to improve the security of its Galaxy devices.

For your information, Samsung has brought the October 2023 update to more Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy A54. However, currently, the update is spotted in the US. The company will gradually expand the update to more countries in the coming days.

The Galaxy S22 was introduced in 2022 and is one of the most popular flagship devices. The company has packed the device with Android 12, and later it will receive one more major update in the form of Android 13 and One UI 5.1. Samsung has promised to provide software support for five years, so the device will get at least three more Android updates and several security patch updates.
