Samsung has rolled out the December 2023 update for Galaxy Note 20 series devices; however, it is not the first time that the update is arriving in the US for the same device. It is already available for some locked units of devices, including Verizon and US Cellular, but now it is available for the unlocked units as well.

Users who own unlocked units of Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra devices can easily identify the latest by these firmware version numbers, N981U1UES6HWK1 and N986U1UES6HWK1, respectively. The latest update for these devices doesn’t carry any significant changes, but it will provide a layer of safety.

According to the official changelog, the latest update will include a new security patch that will provide a plethora of fixes for several functions that are making the device vulnerable. Sometimes these updates make changes internally to bring smoothness to the performance and stability of the devices, so if you want to be secure and bug-free, then you should always keep your device up-to-date.

If you are also using the unlocked unit of the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra devices in the US, then you can now update it to the latest version. To do that, you can simply go to the software update menu from the main system settings, then tap on the download and install option. Wait for some time until it checks for new updates, then tap the download button.

The Galaxy Note 20 was the last device in the Note series; it was introduced back in 2020 with Android 10 preinstalled. Later, as it promised to get three major updates, it gradually grabbed all three updates in the form of Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13 sequentially. Now, it is no longer eligible to get any new major updates, but it is still eligible to get some more security updates in the future.
